POSSUM Event

Patients Of St Vincent’s – Surgery for UGI Malignancies

Since 2017, the HPB and UGI unit at St Vincent’s Hospital has hosted a morning tea in November for our survivorship patients.  The morning tea allows patients to mingle, exchange stories and catch up with nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, researchers, clinic staff and doctors in an informal setting.  While enjoying the morning tea, short information sessions are delivered on nutrition, well-being and updates on current activities in the unit.

As COVID struck in 2020, the annual POSSUM event was adapted to take on a different form. We had planned an innovative interactive online event, where patients were able to participate and enjoy from the comfort of their own home.

Recently, we have commenced the POSSUM Community annual newsletter to improve communication.  If you would like to receive the newsletter, please sign up below or contact our POSSUM communication team at: hpbugi.surgery@svha.org.au

POSSUM 2022

POSSUM 2022 was a heartwarming success as we were able to invite our fellow POSSUMs to join us in-person for our annual morning tea. As we were focused on Wellness and Quality of Life, we had asked our attendees to write down the things that bring them joy.
